Global Quality

Product quality policy

The CAAB market wants to give purchasers and consumers the best possible guarantees as to the hygienic-sanitary quality of its products.
The Food and Agricultural Centre is provided with a health control information system for products quality; it is a computer-based system which involves chemical and microbiological analyses, as well as the implementation of HACCP systems by the businesses operating in the market. Analyses are carried out further to an agreement among CAAB, Ager (the Bologna Commodities Exchange within the Chamber of Commerce), Fedagromercati Acmo Bologna (Association of the Fruit and Vegetable Market traders) and the producers’ association AgriBologna.
Thousands of specific and product-focused analyses are therefore privately carried out by the CAAB Companies every year; they add up to the official analyses made by the AUSL (Public Health Local Authority) laboratory based in the market, which makes CAAB the most accurately checked market in Italy.

Products quality

A supervising office for products quality is based at CAAB, carrying out inspections and giving free advice to suppliers and customers with the purpose of increasingly improving products quality.

Sundry activities

The activities promoted by the CAAB Centre include food education programs, vocational training in the food sector, as well as the development of business relations with producers and traders in the food sector all over the world.
CAAB may also provide market operators and customers with specific advice in the fields of products marketing and quality-control.

All quality-control tests are certified by SGS;

their effectiveness and preventive action led to the creation of a QUALITY TRADEMARK, approved by SGS. This trademark identifies all licensees and distributors whose products are submitted to the thorough quality-control tests carried out by CAAB and SGS.
