Quality Control System
It is based on the assessment of CAAB wholesalers’ suppliers. This assessment is requested by current hygienic-sanitary European regulations (Reg. CE 852/2004 HACCP and Reg. EC 178/2002 Traceability).
The core of the system is a database in which the results of chemical and microbiological analyses carried out by the companies are daily inserted. Data include results, identification of the sample (species, variety) and its origin (city, province, region, nation).
Further to database information processing, and further to the indications issued by a technical-scientific committee, the experts of CAAB periodically publish a list of fruit and vegetables divided into ranges of “dangerousness”, which indicate the occurrence of harmful residues, above the standards fixed by the regulations in force. Occasional advice is also provided to businesses, recommending specific analyses.
