CAAB has obtained the UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 certification issued by the leading international organization SGS
It is the first certification of this kind in Italy and Europe and gives further evidence of CAAB commitment to provide the best possible services within the Food and Agriculture Centre.
What is ISO 9001?
ISO 9000 is a family of standards for quality management systems developed by the Iso/Tc176 Technical Committee and issued by the International Organization for Standardization, with the purpose of helping businesses to plan, implement and maintain quality management systems.
ISO 9000 regulations become effective organization standards and, as such, set up the rules that quality management should follow to provide services which meet the requirements of customers, employees, consumers, etc.

Certification
Certification to an ISO standard is carried out by independent and qualified auditors (approved certification bodies), who decide that a management system conforms to ISO 9000 requirements.
SGQ (Quality Management System)
The Quality Management System aims at checking business quality standards, by integrating structure, procedures and resources with the final purpose of pursuing a true quality policy and meet the requirements of all the parties involved.
The Management develops, maintains and updates an SGQ with the purpose of:
- creating a service able to meet customers’ requests,
both expressed and unexpressed;
- improving efficiency in the use of human, material and staff resources;
- improving the efficiency of production processes;
- developing and implementing a quality-improving plan.
Certification by CAAB ScpA
To increase customers’ satisfaction and to keep improving its standards, early in 2000, CAAB implemented a Quality Control System for the services provided by the Agriculture and Food Centre of Bologna and obtained, in 2001, the UNI EN ISO 9001 Certification, issued by the famous international organization SGS, Italian Division.
The services involved are: internal logistics, cleaning, waste management, quality control tests, promotions and marketing, price monitoring and health control.
This latter service is based on the hygienic-sanitary self-control manuals issued by the companies, as well as on the suppliers’ evaluations through planning and chemical-microbiological tests carried out on the products. It was later taken out from the ISO9000 quality standard and used as a basis to create a specific standard for products certification.
Once this new standard has been implemented and tested by SGS, Italian Division, CAAB has created the trademark “CAAB Mercati SGS”.
This trademark is now granted to wholesalers and retailers dealing with CAAB distribution network who, acquiring the specific reference techniques, accept to submit to regular quality controls carried out by CAAB and by SGS, Italian Division.
