About us: Introducing the CAAB Centre

The Agriculture and Food Centre of Bologna (“CAAB”) is a modern structure created to promote the wholesale trade of food and produce, as well as the related logistics services.

Its strategic location, its functional and modern structures, the important businesses it represents, the high quality standards of its products and services make it one of the leading reference points in both Italian and European food distribution.

Besides several commercial areas, the Centre also includes platforms for picking and supplying to the large distribution retail trade, a Service Centre, warehouses and infrastructures.

The Centre is a great potential for the Bologna trade, with its ability to:

- attract and concentrate offer and demand, thus enhancing business and trade;

- promote the international role of Bologna in the food sector, by taking advantage of its strategic position between the North and the South of Italy and, therefore, bridging Northern Europe, the Mediterranean area and Eastern Europe;

- organize services by an advanced know-how, with special focus on products quality-control.

Operators will find at CAAB a modern commercial and logistics Centre, as well as advanced services for the agriculture and food trade. The mission of CAAB is to offer increasing top-quality services and to turn the market into a perfect link between producers and consumers.

The tradition and the future

The Agriculture and Food Centre is a large, modern structure created to continue the long-established commercial tradition of Bologna.

The mercantile role of Bologna dates back to the Middle Ages, and has developed over the years thanks to the city’s strategic location, in the midst of the major Italian and European communication routes.

The rooted trading culture and the long-established entrepreneurial tradition of both Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna region allow us to foresee a future when they are at the centre of a broader and more competitive trading network.

The highly-computerised structures of the Centre guarantee the most efficient logistics activities. There is an internal, expressly-planned, time-saving routing system.

The CAAB Centre is also perfectly linked to the local and national communication routes, being close to the “tangenziale” (the ring motorway around Bologna) and to the main Italian highways.

Its special central position makes CAAB a primary attraction pole for the agriculture and food distribution in Italy and Europe.
